It is often said among �dog people� that we love all of our dogs, but there a few dogs who, for some reason, are able to wrap themselves more tightly around our hearts than others. They are special. I believe that�s why they are often referred to as our �heart dogs�'. Shelby was one of those �heart dogs�. Without her, we now have this empty hole in our hearts that no other animal will ever fill. New animals that come into our lives will have to carve out their own spot, but Shelby�s spot will forever be hers. She is gone, but we have memories, and we have the knowledge that someday we will all be reunited.
