What I didn't know was how Tim would react to a dog who was afraid of him. I knew he loved the animals that I had already imposed on him, but none of them were ever as terrified of people as Shelby. I was afraid he would not respond to Shelby if she didn't respond well to him. He'd had relatively little experience with abused animals so I was worried. I couldn't have been more wrong. Tim just couldn't accept as fact that a dog was afraid of him. He loved dogs and he just seemed to make it his personal mission to win over this poor, pathetic, obviously abused waif.
