Over the next eight weeks Tim and I would continue to work to gain Shelby's trust, and we would eventually find homes for all of the puppies when they were old enough to leave their momma. At the end of nine weeks, all of the puppies had gone to their new homes and only Shelby was left. She had learned to get along with our other dogs once the puppies were gone and she had made wonderful strides of trust with Tim and I. She loved Tim. Playing a game of fetch was pure heaven for both of them. She wouldn't stop until you put the ball away out of sight. The big problem was she was still very afraid of other people, especially men. She was not, by any means, the dog who would come to the front of an adoption kennel and shout "Take me home."
